The Peterborough Telegraph has marked every Peterborough United player out of 10 for their contribution to an improved, yet ultimately frustrating 2018-19 season.
Who were the stars and who struggled?
Posh players on their lap of appreciation at the end of the season.
Appearances: 1. Goals: 0. A former Newcastle and Spurs defender signed on reputation, while ignoring a knee injury which had stalled his career. Started one game in the Checkatrade and did okay. 1/10.
Appearances: 45. Goals: 4. Formed a formidable partnership at the heart of the Posh defence with Ryan Tafazolli at the start of the season, but too many errors crept into his game. Goals were a bonus. 5/10.
Appearances: 2. Goals: 0. Coming from Manchester City carries a weight of expectation that was clearly too heavy for this winger. Started just one Checkatrade game and was hauled off in that at half-time with Posh 3-0 down. 1/10.
Appearances: 37. Goals: 0. The 6ft 7ins goalkeeper saved his best form until the end of the season, but it was too late to avoid a place on the transfer list. Didnt dominate his penalty area despite his size. 6/10.
Appearances: 20. Goals: 1. A midfielder who failed to get a decent run in the side under either of two first-team managers. Possibly systems didnt suit his strengths, but his passing was safe and weak. 4/10.
Appearances: 29. Goals 3. A wasted season for an attacking midfielder who started just four League One matches despite a team creativity problem for most of the campaign. 3/10.
Appearances: 29. Goals: 8. Excellent in August, but some strange off-field incidents accompanied a huge drop-off in form. A sad waste of talent. Left for Luton in January. 4/10.
Appearances: 25. Goals 1. The left-back quickly became a scapegoat when results turned sour. Certainly made some rash decisions which cost goals and let go in January. 3/10.
Appearances: 47. Goals: 7. A season full of promise from the dashing winger. Hes raw and doesnt always use the ball perfectly, but a terrific season with some quality goals. 8/10.
Appearances: 11. Goals: 0. On-loan midfielder who suffered when Posh changed manager. Disappeared when Posh started their late run for the play-offs. 3/10.
Appearances: 14. Goals: 0. On-loan left-back who was weak defensively. Only occasional flashes of attacking promise. 3/10.
Appearances: 48. Goals: 18. The striker started the season well. A good finisher, worked hard, but lacked pace and couldnt form a successful partnership with Ivan Toney. 7/10.
Appearances: 8. Goals: 0. Injured on his first appearance and no impact until switched to midfield where he was excellent. Shame the switch didnt happen earlier. 6/10
