Peterborough United defender could be back in action much sooner than expected

Peterborough United are relieved at the news centre-back Frankie Kent could be back in action in under a month.

Posh were braced for a season-ending diagnosis on a knee injury sustained in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Oxford United, but instead the 24 year-old will be back in action in 3-6 weeks.

Kent watched last night’s 4-0 win over Southend United from the back of the main stand at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson said: “It is good news. The worst case scenario is six weeks out and the best case scenario is three-to four weeks out.

“Frankie does require a small operation, but it could have been much worse.

“Niall Mason and Rhys Bennett both delivered very professional performances last night so we have the players in the squad to cover for Frankie.”

Defender Nathan Thompson also missed last night’s match because of suspension. He can return for the trip to Fleetwood on Saturday (February 15).
