It’s seen as a crunch campaign for Posh as they seek to return to the Promised Land of the Championship for the first time in eight years.

And MacAnthony wants to make sure the players are up for the fight.

“I’ve told the players they’ve had a year of their careers stolen,” MacAnthony said.

“They should have been spending this season in the Championship, but instead they are still in League One.

“We have been wronged. We have been on the wrong end of a grave injustice and we need to put it right.

“We must be ruthless. We must win at all costs. We need to get back into the Championship.

“I’m hoping I get a response from them and I’m sure I will.”

Posh are still sore about how the 2019-20 season ended as a strong surge towards automatic promotion was scuppered by a pandemic and the controversial decision to employ a points-per-game average to determine final league positions.

The League One fixtures are due out later this morning (August 21, 9am) with the season due to start behind closed doors on Saturday, September 12.
