Generous Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has donated £1500 to struggling Isthmian League club Wingate & Finchley.

MacAnthony has sponsored the club’s away shirts for the 2020-21 season after seeing a tweet from Posh fan and talkSPORT host Adrian Durham advertising the club’s crowdfunding appeal.

Wingate & Finchley are based in the Borough of Barnet and are trying to raise £10k to sustain the club’s many community products.

MacAnthony, who has come in for criticism from some fans of rival EFL clubs for his determined stance to see League One resume this season, said: “I genuinely love football regardless of how some want to paint me. And all of us in EFL need to help our brothers/sisters in non league & ladies football as times are tough.”
