Peterborough United boss loved his side's tenacity and quality, and more praise for Chris Conn-Clarke
Peterborough United boss Luke Williams was delighted with his team’s performance at the end of a gruelling week in Spain.
Williams felt his team were the better side in a goalless friendly draw with Saudi Pro League team Neom SC in Marbella. It was still a creditable result against a team with some big name players and it followed a 2-1 win over FC Magpies of Gibraltar in their opening pre-season game on Tuesday.

The manager. who again opted to field two completely different XIs for 45 inutes apiece, was once more impressed with the form and attitude of transfer-listed forward Chris Conn-Clarke.

"There were a lot of positives to take from the game,” Williams told the club's media team. “We were the team on the front foot. We created the better openings and we worked very hard defensively to keep a very talented team out.
"We should have won the first period comfortably and, although it became more stop-start in the second half, we were still the better side. It would have been good to see the ball hit the back of the net though.
"We were very tenacious in the middle of the pitch as well as good on the ball and we have wingers in tune with the club’s DNA of being very positive and wanting to supply the forwards with goal-scoring chances. Owura Edwards was desperate to run at his defender to try and make a big action for the team.
"Chris Conn-Clarke almost scored a fantastic goal. He is the type of player who can produce something out of the ordinary. He’s a real quality player, but he he was also prepared to work hard to shut space down, track back and try to regain possession. You add his quality to that workrate and you have one hell of a player.
"It’s been a good week, being able to get away from any distractions. We’ve trained hard twice a day. We’ve had two good matches the new players have been introduced to the group. Hopefully we’ve set a really good foundation for the season.”
