Peterborough United boss dedicates winning run to the work of medical and conditioning staff
First-team boss Luke Williams has praised the club’s backroom staff for their crucial part in Peterborough United's current winning run.
Following Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Leyton Orient, Posh are currently on a four-game winning run, with the victories over Reading, Northampton, Port Vale and Leyton Orient all coming by a single goal.

Given the close nature of those games, Posh had has to survive periods of pressure in each and have done so successfully to move into 13th place in the table, outside of the top half only on goal difference.
In securing those victories, Williams has paid tribute to both the mentality of his players as well as their physical condition, giving particular credit to his backroom staff.
The ringing endorsement of their qualities and value to the team have echoed the words of Chairman Darragh MacAnthony, who leapt to the defence of medical staff on his most recent Hard Truth podcast after some fans had questioned the club’s recent injury record with players seemingly picking up recurring injuries.
Williams said: “This run is purely down to the condition of the players, their physical conditioning and the way that my staff give me the information on which players need to train more or need to train less. They are telling me how much running each individual has completed during training and games. We are blessed in that way as we have fantastic staff who are really giving us an opportunity to grind these games out and win.
“This time of year, the games come so thick and fast at a time when the conditions are tough. A lot of players were slipping, but that’s not for want of trying. Our ground staff are also incredible, but it’s just very challenging to play football in Britain at this time of year.
“We have played on a couple of tough pitches and we’re training on tough pitches, everyone is doing what they can, but it is taking its toll.
“The conditioning and medical team have been fantastic since I got here. They are trying to do absolutely everything that they can to make sure the squad is in tip-top form.
“Me and my assistant Ryan Haley knew we would not just be able to arrive here and be able to play fantastic football. The confidence of the team was probably a bit low and some of the guys need some more experience and they are building that now.
“What we really needed was a group that could grind out results when required. To do that, you need a strong mentality, but also the physical fitness and conditioning that goes with it. The guys have been fantastic and I am really grateful to them."
