Peterborough United boss comes under fire for his starting selection ahead of Huddersfield Town defeat

Peterborough United boss Luke Williams came under fire for his starting selection ahead of a 3-2 League One home defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Posh were dreadful for an hour, but finished the game strongly after substitutes Matt Garbett and Jimmy-Jay Morgan were introduced from the substitutes’ bench.

We asked Posh fans to sum up their afternoon and to nominate a man-of-the-match with most nominating captain and left-back Carl Johnston.

Subs come to late. That’s on the manager as it needed changes before HT. Too many ‘light’ players doesn’t work. The percentage of sideways and backwards passing was too high today and at Stevenage. Once Garbett and Morgan come on those percentages changed – @steffandancy

Frustrating to lose that after forcing our way back to 2-2. Garbett and Morgan should have been introduced earlier as they changed the game. Play-offs looks a tall order now. MOM: Hayes who looked dangerous when he was on the ball, but he wasn’t given it frequently enough – @cooper_derren

We had a strong bench because he started so much rubbish to begin with. Furious – @TheBadRedDevil

Worst moment of Luke Williams' Posh career. MOM Carl Johnston – @dalerout

Manager doing a great job and will likely keep us up, which seemed a long way off not so long back. He needs backing though as this squad needs work ahead of next season – @GaryOldgreg

Williams picked the wrong side. We were far better once Garbutt and JJ came on and with no reinforcements the season looks done – @GrantCatt1

Build-up play to slow. Needed Garbett and Morgan on at half-time after a toothless first half. MOM Johnston – @1_ferguson

I can understand why JJ and Garbett didn’t start as they were poor on Tuesday. Having said that they should have been on from the start of the second- half as first-half we just never got going. MOM Carl Johnston. What we lacked in quality he made up for in his spirit and determination – @JamesGWesley

Can't seem to play JJ and Garbett in the same side, but don't seem to have a lot of choice. MOM Hayes by a mile – @Robewing71

Finally starting Hayes only to drop Morgan and Garbett is baffling. Substitutions should have been made at half-time if not earlier. Also need to be smarter in our approach - the pedantic nature of the ref was clear from kick off so no surprise a flurry of yellows received – @ChrisHurst2

Another slow and static 60 minutes, improved once we got the goal, but too little too late. Need to improve movement and tempo to get the goals! James Dornelly MOM – @SBCastorPosh

First 60 minutes were a continuation of Stevenage before the subs galvanised the team. MOM Dornelly for the equaliser – @romysdad

You score when the ball is played forwards, we should try it more often. MOM Johnston – @amwright40

I like Luke Williams, but the blame for today has to go firmly at the manager’s door. The selection was criminal and anyone with any footballing brain could have told you we would struggle to create chances with that side! And so it proved. Not sure a MOM is warranted – @MattStevenson11

For all the good he's done, manager got it wrong today. Only one winner at 2-2, but poor decision making cost us again. Old Posh would have got blown away so credit for the changes and the fighting spirit. MOM Johnston – @IanJBryant

Poor selection today and two player mistakes for goals. Owner needs to back the manager before transfer deadline. Huddersfield deserved to win – @peterborofutsal.

Can't start playing at 55 mins, sorry, but manager got it wrong today, subs should have been made in the first half – @SoboPosh19

First 60 minutes … woeful. Last 30 minutes … (almost) wonderful. In the end beaten by the best player I’ve seen this season … Huddersfield’s Marcus Harness. If only we had players that could actually beat a man – @TobyWoody

Hayes a clear MOM, but credit to Johnston for grit and perseverance – @Faugeres34

Luke Williams got the selection wrong today & should have made changes at HT. Teams figure us out too easy with the high press. We looked a threat when Matt Garbett & JJ Morgan come on. James Dornelly MOM – @stuartdancy85
