Old boy Malik does his best for Peterborough United, goalie goal saves a point for Exeter and League One manager to leave at the end of the season
Peterborough United were a last-minute goal by a goalkeeper away from celebrating a fine set of League One results on Saturday.
Exeter City ‘keeper Jack Bycroft bagged a 96th minute equaliser in a 3-3 thriller against play-off chasing Stockport County to keep ‘The Grecians’ in touch at the bottom.

Former Posh striker Malik Mothersille scored his first goal since the opening day of the season for County and assisted as his side went 2-0 up. Exeter fought back to 2-2, but went behind again 12 minutes from time before a dramatic finale
Without Bycroft’s heroics Posh would have been able to guarantee safety with a win at home to Burton Albion on Sunday (1pm kick off). Three points would still pretty much do the job thanks to a superior goal difference. Out of form Posh are 17th, three points above the relegation zone with four games to go. Exeter have just two games to, the first of which is at Burton next Saturday (April 25).
Burton have the same number of points as Posh from one game more and they would have been cheered by home defeats for Leyton Orient and AFC Wimbledon. The Dons’ 3-1 loss to Plymouth Argyle was predictable, but Orient were beaten 2-0 by relegated Rotherham United.
Doncaster Rovers (3-1 win at bottom club Cobblers), Barnsley (2-2 draw with Bradford City) and Mansfield (2-2 draw at home to Luton) have secured their safety and Blackpool (1-0 win at Wycombe), just need a point from their final two games to be certain of survival. Posh would go back above Blackpool by beating Burton.
Wigan Athletic are now also safe even though they didn’t play today. They are at Port Vale on Sunday.
