Posh trail 1-0 after Saturday’s first leg so they will need a mighty effort to reach Wembley for the second time this season.
Here’s hoping it’s a game good enough to mix with these memorable nights under the lights at London Road.
These are the favourite home night games of Posh fans who responded to a request from the PT on social media. They are listed in no particular order, apart from what must surely be an undisputed number one!
17. POSH 3, CRYTAL PALACE 0, 1983
Posh won this League Cup tie on penalties after losing the first leg 3-0. New signing Ray Hankin (pictured) was magnificent. He scored as did Colin Clarke and Trevor Quow. Posh won 4-2 on penalties after our goalkeeper, a young David Seaman, saved two spot-kicks. Photo: David Lowndes
18. POSH 4, BURNLEY 0, 1965
Remarkably Burnley were top of Division One when pasted by a Division Three side in a League Cup tie. John Fairbrother scored twice with Ollie Conmy (pictured) and an own goal completing the scoring. Photo: David Lowndes
