Clarke-Harris (26) is expected to make his Posh debut in Saturday’s (August 29) friendly with Coventry City at the Weston Homes Stadium after completing a big-money transfer from Bristol Rovers today.

Clarke-Harris averaged better than a goal every other game for Rovers and he is confident he can repeat that form with Posh.

Clarke-Harris, who signed a four-year contract, said: “I played against Peterborough last season and the team is pretty much the same apart from a couple of new faces and I’m confident I will mould straight into it.

“The manager has told me to just play like I did for Bristol Rovers and to work hard. Everyone knows what I can do now and I thank Rovers for giving me that platform.

“I’ve been around a lot of clubs, but I’ve learnt what type of player I am now. The deal took time to get done, but I’m very happy to be here.”

Clarke-Harris initially joined Posh from Coventry as a teenager in 2012, but failed to make a Posh appearance in his one season at the club. He went on loan to Bury and Southend before moving permanently to Oldham in 2013.

Rotherham signed him for £350k before he moved onto Coventry and then Rovers in January, 2019.

“I was a kid with no clue when I was here before,” Clarke-Harris added. “The chairman and manager are still the same though and they’ve seen me grow into the player I am now.

“I believe in my ability now and I can’t wait to get on the pitch and show what I can do. I can’t wait to finally pull a first-team shirt on.”

Clarke-Harris was Posh’s number one striker target and will inevitably lead to speculation that star man Ivan Toney will soon be on his way with Brentford and Celtic still reportedly interested in the 24 year-old.
