Marcus Maddison to Hull reaction: “A great deal all-round, money talks, he’s been disruptive, a mix of brilliance and embarrassing diving, a relief he’s gone and his replacement is excellent’

Peterborough United fans have shown little regret over the departure of Marcus Maddison to Hull City today (January 31).

Maddison (26) has moved to the Championship club for a loan fee and is expected to sign permanently when he is a free agent at the end of the season.

Maddison links up with his old Posh boss Grant McCann and could make his debut in tomorrow’s (February 1) Championship fixture at home to Brentford, a game that is live on Sky Sports (12.30pm kick-off).

Comments as told to @PTAlanSwann on Twitter

‘Maddison transfer looks like a fairly good deal all round.

Posh get a nice fee for a player set to leave for nothing.

Hull get a player who on his day will be an asset.

Maddison gets flexibility in the summer to choose a move that’s right for him (interested clubs dependent).’

@NeiljHubbard

‘Let’s just hope it all works out for Marcus and Posh. Just wish he could have decided to stay here until the end of the season, just to see if Posh got promoted, but hey ho guess money talks again.’

@jeanneventers

‘Maddison’s replacement is working out fine. Glad to see the back of him. For all the brilliant goals there were 50 shots in row Z and 100 embarrassing dives and rolls on the floor. Hull can now pay his wages. He’s blown his career if he doesn’t buck up.’

@washlandsPosh

‘Not done too bad without Maddison in the last three games, including beating the top two!’

‘Maddison doesn’t want to be here. He has been a bit disruptive. We get loan fee and he goes so job done and we can back the players we have at club.’

@razorblue

‘My very unpopular opinion is that we are better off with him in the squad until end of the season, but understand both his and club’s point of view.’

@NergaardPeter

‘Of course we are the desperate ones! Maddison is out of contract in five months, and Fergie has confirmed he won’t play for us again even if he stayed. We had no negotiatimg power. I’m absolutely fine with us getting someone else to pay his wages for five months.’

@theposheye

‘To get a loan fee, which will probably be less than the £2.5m, but it’s something. So win, win all round I suppose’.

‘Massive shame Maddison’s off out on loan. But you get the feeling he’s having a negative impact on the changing room. Hull v Brentford on Sky tomorrow lunchtime too!’

@PaulGC84

‘Best to get a bit of cash for him in the short term. He was completely out of the first team picture at Posh.’

@capper_mike

‘If at the start of the window you’d told me that Maddison would be leaving on loan, and not been sold, I’d have been really disappointed. And yet as events have turned out, it is something of a relief.’

@romysdad

‘Maddison should have more respect from Posh fans for what he’s done for us.’
