LIVE BLOG: Posh v Accrington Stanley

Last updated: Saturday, 27 March, 2021, 17:01

  • 7-0 FT
  • JCH scores twice in the first ten minutes
  • Szmodics adds third from tight angle
  • JCH completes second hat-trick of season with tap-in
  • Eisa scores first league goal for 13 months
  • Kanu scores first league goal for Posh

That is Posh’s biggest win for 14 years, since 24 November 2007 when they beat 10 man Brentford 7-0 at home. Terry Butcher’s side had their keeper sent off for a foul on Aaron McLean in the second minute to concede a penalty. Goals from Boyd, McLean, Mackail-Smith, Whelpdale and Howe completed the rout.

No such excuses today, Posh were first class from the word go and to add the cherry on top, Eisa has his first league goal in 13 months and Kanu with his first league goal for Posh.

Ball comes in, drops all the way to the floor to the foot of Kanu but there is so many bodies in there, the ball is blocked.

Viscous 40yard shot from Hamilton well tipped over the bar. Corner.

Posh just pouring on now, definitely still a chance for eight

Strong shout for a penalty when Eisa tries a drag the ball back past Phillips, he dives to the floor to stop him from doing do and in the process Eisa’s foot gets trapped underneath his back and he goes over. Ref waves away.

Oh, Ricky so nearly had a goal, he used his excellent pace to surprise Nottingham and nick it off him, he takes a touch and drives to just inside the area and shoots at goal, just wide.

Ball in the net again but the flag is up as Szmodics strayed a step too far before finding Eisa in the middle of the box to smash home.

First league goal for Kanu. Mason swings the free-kick in from the right, it goes towards the Jones, it gets headed down and there is Kanu in to poke home right in the middle of the 6-yard box.

Maguire booked for bringing down Mason on the right.

He’s finally done it! Mo has his goal and he can thank Szmodics for a brilliant ball. From the right, he curls a pass infield, which Eisa runs onto unopposed, he rounds the keeper on the edge of the box and rolls home. The whole team ran to hug him. First of the season.

Smyth and McConville withdrawn and Lewis Mansall and Rhys Fenlon, more forwards for what its worth.

Hamilton for Brown, Jones for Burrows.
