Posh take a record of one win and eight defeats against teams currently above them in the League One table into a home game v second-placed Plymouth Argyle on Saturday.
Ferguson’s selection has been complicated by the return of midfielder Oliver Norburn from injury.
Ricky-Jade Jones and Manu Fernandez are known injury absentees.
Here’s the team the PT would pick in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

5. RONNIE EDWARDS
I toyed with playing Frankie Kent rather than Edwards as I have seen Plymouth top scorer Ryan Hardie give the latter a hard time on two occasions. I'm banking on Edwards to learn and improve. Photo: Joe Dent

6. JEANDO FUCHS
What a dilemma for Ferguson. Jack Taylor, if fit, is a shoo-in for central midfield, but a case can be made for Hector Kyprianou, Oliver Norburn or Fuchs to partner him. Plymouth are full of pace and skill, and will likely have plenty of possession, so the more combative skills of Fuchs wins my vote. It's too big a leap for Norburn, while Kyprianou will most likely return to my side for Tuesday's home game with Charlton when Posh will most likely boss the ball. Photo: Joe Dent

8. HARRISON BURROWS
I'm keeping the Posh Academy graduate in an advanced midfield role partly because it enables Kwame Poku to play out wide where he is more dangerous. Photo: Joe Dent
