INJURY UPDATE: Jack Taylor to be assessed on Sunday, but club ‘hopeful’ he will be okay for next League One match, Kent stood down because of concussion protocols

Peterborough United are hopeful key midfielder Jack Taylor will return to action in next Saturday’s (February 6) League One clash with Crewe Alexandra at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Taylor limped out of today’s (January 30) 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury towards the end of the first-half with a calf problem.

He will be assessed by the club’s medical staff tomorrow.

Posh boss Darren Ferguson said: “Jack felt tightness in his calf and there was some pain. He was obviously struggling for 10 minutes or so. We tried to get him through to half-time, but he had to come off.

“He will be assessed tomorrow and we hope it’s just related to fatigue having played so many games recently. Hopefully he will be available next Saturday”

Centre-back Frankie Kent was ruled out today because of the concussion protocols after suffering a bang on the head in Tuesday’s draw with Bristol Rovers.

Kent has been stood down for seven days so is ruled out of Tuesday’s Papa John’s Trophy quarter-final at Tranmere Rovers (February 2), but will be available to face Crewe. Taylor would have been rested from that game anyway.

Posh ard expected to rest several regular first-teamers from that match.
