Gustav insists he can take a lot from his year with Peterborough United

Gustav Lindgren insists his year at Peterborough United was far from a wasted opportunity.

The 24 year-old striker made 43 Posh appearances after moving from Swedish club Degerfors just over 12 months ago, but 26 were from the substitutes’ bench. Lindgren scored six goals before he returned home to join top-flight Swedish side BK Hacken for an undisclosed fee earlier this week.

Lindgren is confident the free-scoring mobile forward will now return.

Lindgren told his new club’s media team: “I take a lot with me from Peterborough. I have become stronger mentally and grown as a person. I also believe I have developed my leadership skills, both in a football context and otherwise. But I will not miss the English coffee!

“My ambition matches BC Hacken. Their identity is very similar to mine. It’s a club that takes care of its players while also being a very good platform for development.

“The club should have high expectations. I know what I am capable of and feel great self-confidence. I know this move will be good, so expect goals!”

BK Hacken start pre-season on January 19 with the new Swedish season starting early in April. Lindgren’s new team finishing 10th last season.

The club’s football director Martin Ericsson said: “We see Gustav as a player who will make a difference to us going forward, We see his speed and intensity, together with a natural killer instinct in the penalty area, as clear strengths in him. He should fit in very well with us.”

Bk Hacken are based in Gothenburg and play in a stadium with a capacity of just over 6,000.
