There were fantastic scenes soon after the final whistle had blown on one of the great days in the history of Peterborough United.
The team won promotion in improbable style. They needed only a point to confirm a top two spot, but in the 65th minute they found themselves 3-0 down and seemingly dead and buried.
What followed, however, will live forever in the memory. Posh found three goals in the final 25 minutes from Sirki Dembele and a Jonson Clarke-Harris double. The promotion was sealed with a penalty from what was almost the final kick of the game, with Clarke-Harris showing no sign of any nerves as he smashed the ball home.
Cue jubilant and unforgettable scenes as seen below...
Darragh MacAnthony: ‘A ghost is exorcised, Operation Vengeance a roaring success, our ‘Aguero’ moment, retirement considered, my best promotion, an incredible trifecta and a calm and professional manager’
MATCHDAY TALKING POINTS: Posh were due some luck as they won promotion the right way, Clarke-Harris delivers the best club goals return for 60 years, a team with plenty of ‘bottle,’ unsung heroes step up, pride in Fergie and his backroom boys, and why Lincoln shouldn’t protest about a dodgy penalty too much
