Former Peterborough United striker passes away
Peterborough United are mourning the passing of their former striker Richie Barker at the age of 80 today (October 13).
Barker played for Posh in the 1971-72 season and scored nine goals - including the club’s 1000th Football League goal in a 5-2 derby win at Cambridge United - before breaking a leg in a reserve match and retiring from professional football.
Barker also played for Burton, Derby County and Notts County and worked in management/coaching roles at Stoke City, Sheffield Wednesday, Shrewsbury, Burton, Wolves (as an assistant to ex-Posh boss John Barnwell), West Brom, as well as spells in Greece and Egypt.
