Former Peterborough United captain Russell Martin lands new job in League One
Former Peterborough United captain Russell Martin has landed a new job in League One.
Martin has officially been announced as the boss of newly-relegated Leicester City on a three-year contract.

He takes over from Gary Rowett, who was sacked after the Foxes dropped into the third tier for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
Martin steered Southampton to promotion from the Championship in the 2023/24 season but was sacked the following December after the Saints lost 13 of their first 16 games in the Premier League.
He then endured an unsuccessful spell with Rangers which ended in the sack after just 17 games in October 2025.
Former Posh boss Darren Ferguson was an early favourite to replace Rowett, but he is now thought to be more likely to take charge at League Two side Salford City.
Martin made 66 appearances for Posh between 2008 and 2010 before moving to Norwich City. He was part of the Posh team that won automatic promotion from League One as runners-up to Leicester City.
Luke Williams and Martin will now face off against each other. The pair enjoy an excellent relationship after Williams served as his assistant as Milton Keynes and Swansea.
