John Anderson, the son of the former Peterborough United forward/caretaker manager/trainer and Manchester United and Nottingham Forest player Johnny Anderson, has picked his all-star team from the local players he played with in the 1960s.

John played for Posh schoolboys and for the club’s A team, Peterborough Athletic, Huntingdon, Glinton, Eye, Wisbech, Perkins and the renowned Newark Rovers sunday team of the time.

John’s top team has been selected in a 4-4-2 formation.

Goalkeeper: Mick Sturgeon (Newark Rovers). A dependable, good shot stopper.

Back Four: Bernard Lant (Posh A). A hard tackling, good passing, full back.

Dave Beaver (Posh A/Newark Rovers). Hard as nails, but also a good footballer.

George Humphreys (Posh A). A solid centre half, strong, could head the ball further than some could kick it.

Colin Measures (Glinton). A left back who had everything, strong and athletic.

Midfield: Geoff Brothers (Glinton). A good, attacking right winger who scored goals.

Trevor Wagg (Eye). A defensive holding player who could tackle all day, very underrated.

John Anderson. Sorry had to include myself with this lot!

Geoff Wells (Glinton). A wonder left foot, passing, crossing, just a great wide left player.

Forwards: Maurice Starkey (Glinton). A great goalscorer who holds the local league record which speaks for itself.

Dave (Jack) Gray. Most talented, had everything, speed and ability.

* Johnny Anderson scored for Manchester United in the 4-2 1948 FA Cup Final win over Blackpool.
