Posh will receive a seven-figure fee if the Bees go up as part of the deal that took Ivan Toney to West London, but they suffered a third straight Championship loss yesterday, 2-0 at Coventry City. Toney missed that game with an ankle injury which is not though to be too serious. He’d scored his 24th goal of the season in a 2-1 defeat at QPR in midweek.

Brentford remain second, but the chasing pack are closing in.

Bristol City sacked former Posh player Dean Holden as manager last week, but it didn’t change their luck or form. City lost 1-0 at home to Barnsley yesterday.

In League One one-time Posh loanee Omar Bogle scored his first goal for Doncaster from the penalty spot as Rovers hit back from 0-2 and 1-3 down to Grant McCann’s Hull City to draw 3-3. That result helped lift Posh into second place above the Tigers.

Bristol Rovers goalkeeper Joe Day saved a penalty after a foul by Jack Baldwin at Gillingham, but the home side still eased to a 2-0 win at Priestfield. It was a second penalty save in two games for the former Posh ‘keeper.

Ryan Broom played for an hour of Burton’s 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Sunderland.

In League Two ex-Posh midfielder Callum Cooke is playing a starring role in Bradford City’s surge up the table. He set up the first goal in a 2-0 win at promtion-chasing Cheltenham yesterday.

Marcus Maddison played for an hour of Bolton’s 1-0 win at Southend before he was replaced by another Posh old boy Lloyd Isgrove and Serhat Tasdemir played for 50 minutes in Oldham’s 2-2 draw at Tranmer, but was taken off as soon as his side went down to 10 men.
