Confused? You might be after reading through these possible Peterborough United scenarios in the League One relegation battle
Sky Bet are no longer listing Peterborough United in their odds to be relegated from League One this season.
You can get between 50-1 and 100-1 elsewhere, but the bookmakers seem confident Posh will still be in the third tier next season.

They could be proved right on Saturday – Luke Williams’ men could even be safe before their rivals kick off – but for the moment five clubs, Posh, Burton, Orient, Wimbledon and Exeter, could join Northampton, Port Vale and Rotherham in League Two for the 2026-27 campaign.
Here are some possible scenarios over the final eight days of the season.
Scenario 1
Posh win at Stockport County on Saturday and they will be safe. If they win any of their final three games they will be safe as Exeter can only get to 54 points and Posh already have 52 points.
If Burton beat Exeter on Saturday they will be safe and Posh will also be safe even if they lose at County.
Scenario 2
If Burton and Exeter draw, Posh need at least a point from their trip to Stockport County to be definitely safe. A Posh defeat at County would still leave them on the verge of safety thanks to a superior goal difference, but a further point from their final two games at home to Mansfield and Doncaster would make it definite.
Scenario 3
If Exeter win at Burton, Posh need to win at Stockport to be safe. If Posh draw at Edgeley Park they would most likely need one further point from their final two games to be safe. If Posh lose at County they would need two more points to be definitely safe.
Scenario 4
The Posh requirements are also affected by the results this Saturday of Wimbledon (at Wigan) and Orient (at Blackpool). If The Dons are beaten Posh would need two points from three matches to be certain of finishing above them. If Orient lose Posh need three points, although one fewer point in each case is more realistic given the big disparity in goal difference. If Wimbledon and Orient draw their games add another point to the desired Posh total. If they both win Posh would need a draw from Stockport to stay above Wimbledon and two points to stay above Orient.
Scenario 5
The situation is complicated by the final day fixture between Orient at Burton in East London. If Posh are two points clear of both before the final day they are safe. If they are a point above Burton and two above Orient that goal difference advantage would also most likely mean Posh are safe.
