Captain Kioso shows respect to Stevenage and urges his teammates to treat defeat as a learning curve

Captain Peter Kioso won’t let one poor performance define this Peterborough United team.

Posh failed to get their game going against a robust, well-organised Stevenage team who went top of League One by virtue of a 1-0 win at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Kioso had no issues with a Stevenage display many fans described as ‘anti-football,’ but he has already urged his teammates to take the loss on the chin and get ready for another big game at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday. If Posh win that one they will climb out of the League one relegation zone for the first time this season.

“Fair play to Stevenage,” Kioso told the Posh Plus service. “They made the game very tough for us and they get no disrespect from me because they came with a plan and it worked.

"But I told the players afterwards no heads must drop. I wear the armband and if people want to blame me that’s fine, but I want everyone else to focus on getting ready for Saturday’s game, and I know they will.

"We had been doing well so it was a tough one to take, but we can use it as a learning curve and figure out how to play better against teams who play like Stevenage did.

"They respected us by changing their formation and the way they played, but there is no disappointment in the boys from me. One game doesn’t define you. We must now turn our full concentration on Saturday.”
