The box-to-box midfielder has spent five years within the Leicester City Academy, but trained with Posh towards the end of last season.

Manager Poole said: "Romy is a player that matches the ambition of of the club as we enter this new era. She is a dynamic and athletic midfielder who will bring real energy to the team and we look forward to watching her grow in senior football.”

Saunders added: “I am really excited to be here and looking forward to the challenge. It is a new environment for me and I believe this is the perfect place to take my first steps in senior football. I really enjoyed my time with Leicester City, I have learned a lot and now it is about putting that into practice.

"I trained with Posh towards the end of last season, so I already know the girls and obviously it was great to watch them be so successful.

"I would describe myself as a box to box midfielder, I like to get forward, but I also recognise the defensive work that needs to be done.”

Posh played Sutton Coldfield, one of the teams they overcame to win the National Midlands Division One title last season, behind closed doors in the West Midlands.

The club have not released the names of the other Posh goalscorers. They are next in friendly action at Oxford United on Wednesday, July 15.
