This is the team I would pick in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
I’m assuming Jack Taylor and Siriki Dembele are not fit enough to start. Both would be shoo-ins for selection if available.
5. MARK BEEVERS
I have reservations about the captain at Championship level. He was shrugged off the ball far too easily for Luton's first goal last weekend, but he was still the best of a defence who never got to grips with fast and powerful opponents. Beevers will use all his experience to combat a lack of pace and anyway it's unlikely Derby will run in behind much with big Colin Kazim-Richards as their attacking focul point.
6. OLIVER NORBURN
If Norburn has been signed to play as a defensive midfelder then he needs to be thrown into the fray immediately. Posh need players in that position who are comfortable on the ball and who can move it on quickly and accurately. Knight and Ethan Hamilton struggle with that and Kyle Barker is not Championship-ready. According to my Shrewsbury source Norburn played the role effectively in League One so let's see if he can do it in the second tier. Derby probably won't be great tomorrow so a good chance to impress, especially with a young Premier League midfielder apparently on his way soon.
7. JORGE GRANT
Grant seems certain to be a classy addition to the squad. His vision, passing accuracy and goalscoring threat means he's an automatic pick in central midfield.
8. JOE WARD
Ward can be a frustrating performer. He doesn't always get himself in the best position to receive the ball and when he does get it he often turns back and plays a safe pass rather than using his speed off the mark to get the space he needs to whip in a decent cross. He was much more positive when he came on as a substitute against Plymouth on Tuesday so hopefully he takes that attitude into tomorrow's match. I have him on the right of an attacking three.
