A surprising transfer link for Peterborough United midfielder who is also of interest to a National team

A report has emerged claiming reigning Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta’zim are interested in Peterborough United midfielder Brandon Khela.

The report on the footballpark.com website also suggests Khela is of interest to the Malaysian national team. He apparently qualifies to play for England, India and Malaysia, the latter through a grandparent.

Khela's younger brother Reiss, who is with Leicester City, is also reportedly of interest to Johor Darul Ta’zim.

The article also states ‘while the Malaysian FA are yet to make an official offer to either player to represent the country, their citizenship rules mean that Brandon and Reiss could represent them right away should a proposal be made.

‘Conversely, representing India means holding an Indian passport along with numerous accompanying civil and political documentation means that there could be a significant wait before the eligibility switch is confirmed.

‘The Johor Darul Ta’zim proposal likely comes as a precursor to an official international offer.’

It’s unlikely a move to Malaysia would interest Khela who is just 21 and emerging as a key player at Posh. He has scored twice in pre-season games so far and is expected to start Saturday’s home game with Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
