His idea was to pick the best team you could using just one player from a club and one player from a country.
The Peterborough Telegraph have modified that idea and come up with the best Posh team we could, but restricting ourselves to one player per nationality.
It’s tough and our Posh writer Alan Swann, whose team is listed below, is annoyed he couldn’t pick George Boyd (Scotland), Britt Assombalonga (DR Congo) or David Seaman (England).
But he’s confident his team would thrash the teams selected by Posh staff.
Press officer Phil Adlam’s team: (4-3-3) Feuer (USA), Newton (St Kitts), Zakuani (DR Congo), St Ledger (ROI), Elder (Australia); McCann (NI), Boyd (Scotland), Davies (Wales): Toney (England), Berahino (Burundi), Grazioli (Italy).
Photographer Joe Dent’s team: (4-4-1-1): Griemink (Holland), Gnakpa (France), St Ledger (ROI), Zakuani (DR Congo), Hughes (Wales): Dembele (Ivory Coast), Hyde (Jamaica), McCann (NI), Samuelseon (Norway): Boyd (Scotland): Toney (England).
Marketing guru Jake Baxter’s team: (4-2-3-1) Olejnik (Croatia), Newton (St Kitts) Breen (ROI), Bennett (England), Williams (Cyprus); McCann (NI), Danielsson (Iceland): Dembele (Ivory Coast), Boyd (Scotland), Davies (Wales): Assombalonga (DR Congo).
Here’s my team in a 4-2-1-3 formation...
