Peterborough Sports want to name former Premier League manager as new boss after departures of Michael Gash and Luke Steele
Peterborough Sports have parted company with joint managers Michael Gash and Luke Steele.
The decision was apparently made before Tuesday night’s Northants Senior Cup defeat at lower level Wellingborough Town, although Gash and Steele both worked at that 3-1 defeat.

The PT also understands Sports want former Hull City manager Phil Brown to take over. Brown last worked at this level at Kidderminster Harriers, but left after failing to take the club up last season. Brown managed Hull at Premier League level.
The club released a statement confirming the PT story on Wednesday morning It read: ‘Peterborough Sports can confirm managers Michael Gash and Luke Steele have been relieved of their managerial duties with immediate effect. This has been a very difficult decision and not one that was taken lightly.

"Both Michael and Luke have given their all for the club showing professionalism, passion and a genuine care for the team and its supporters throughout their time with us.
"On behalf of everyone at Peterborough Sports FC we would like to sincerely them for their hard work and dedication and we wish them every success in the future.
"A further statement regarding the appointment of a new manager will be released in due course.”
Sports have suffered a nightmare start to the National League North season and sit bottom of the table with just 1 win and 4 points from their opening 8 games.
Gash and Steele only signed new 2-year contracts in August after steering Sports to a club record finishing position and points tally in the National League North last season. Chairman/owner Tim Woodward described the signings as ‘fantastic news for the club.’ He had inherited the managers from the club’s previous owner.
The pair replaced legendary manager Jimmy Dean in February 2023. Dean guided the club to multiple promotions including a step up to tier 2 football for the first time in Sports’ history before becoming manager of Scunthorpe United. Dean is now managing Spalding United, a club tipped to reach step 2 at the end of this season.
Gash has a playing contract at Sports until the end of this season, but will be out with an injury until Christmas.
