Peterborough Sports stay top in bizarre circumstances ahead of a clash with a Football Leagaue hotshot, Stamford AFC leave it late, but win again

The city side reached the summit with a 2-0 win at Hitchin on Monday, but fully expected to be knocked down again when previous leaders Tamworth played a scheduled match at Coalville on Tuesday.

But the match officials broke down in their car en route to the match leaving Sports at the top, a position they will maintain if they beat Coalville at the Bee Arena on Saturday (March 14, 3pm). Coalville have recently signed prolific Football League scorer Billy Kee.

Second-placed Stamford AFC moved to within two points of Northern Premier League South East Division leaders Leek Town by scoring a 90th-minute winner for the second time in four days.

Jon Challinor was the late match-winner against Sutton Coldfield Town last night. It was his 100th career goal after Harry Vince had scored earlier from the penalty spot.

Stamford host struggling Spalding United at the Zeeco Stadium on Saturday (3pm). Spalding went down 3-0 at home to Chasetown last night.
