The city side dropped a place to third following a scrappy goalless draw at the Bee Arena, but will go top, for 24 hours at least, if they can gain a revenge win at Hitchin tomorrow.

Yaxley also lost ground in Division One Central after a 1-1 draw at Coleshill, one secured by an own goal 11 minutes from time.

Second-placed Stamford AFC have the Northern Premier League South East Division title on their minds and they kept within five points of leaders Leek Town with a 1-0 win at Kidsgrove yesterday thanks to a superb 90th-minute strike from Harry Vince.

That gap will close to two points if the Daniels can beat play-off hopefuls Sutton Coldfield at the Zeeco Stadium on Tuesday (March 10).

There were disappointing United Counties Premier Division results for Holbeach United and Deeping Rangers, but two Tai Williams goals secured a welcome 2-0 win for Peterborough Northern Star at Oadby. Jack Withers was sent off for Holbeach in their 4-1 loss at Shepshed.
