Peterborough League clubs vote to play cup matches instead of league games when football resumes, women and girls league vote overwhelmingly to keep playing

The Peterborough and District League (PDFL) survey of member clubs led to a 55%-45% vote in favour of null and voiding the competition and playing cup competitions instead.

The alternative was to play a shortened league season with final places decided on a points-per-game basis.

Grassroots football has now been given the go ahead to resume from March 29, although the PDFL are waiting for official guidance from the FA before consulting their clubs again.

The same applies to the Peterborough Youth League

Easter weekend falls between April 2 & 5 this year.

The Peterborough Junior Alliance League is currently consulting its clubs over the availability of grounds after Easter. No games will take place before then.

The FA has granted an extension to the end of June for leagues to complete their seasons with the exception of steps3-6t and regional feeder leagues.

The Cambs Womens & Girls League have voted overwhelmingly to keep playing until the June 30 deadline.

Peterborough Sports, Stamford AFC and other step 3 clubs should learn their fate tomorrow (February 24) with a null and void decision the most likely outcome.
