Netherton United shoot up from sixth to first, but Peterborough Northern Star are closing fast

Netherton United Ladies have shot up from sixth to first in the Cambs Womens Premiership in the last 48 hours!

The city side won 4-1 at St Ives Town on Sunday (May 9) and were then awarded three extra points from a conceded contest last month.

Leah Stacey scored twice at St Ives with Megan Stickland and Ellie Hannon also on target.

It’s a fiercely competitive division though with the top three teams all on 23 points and there is just five points beftween first and ninth.

Peterborough Northern Star Reserves’ charge up the table continued with victory in two Sunday games against Cambridge City.

Since the club’s first-team season was called off, the second string have won seven of their eight top-flight matches to move up to fourth. Evie Driscoll-King and Katie Steward scored in a 2-1 win against Cambridge and Steward and Andreia Oliveira netted in a 2-0 success against the same opposition.

Cardea remain three points clear at the top of the Championship North Division after a 10-0 romp at bottom club Cambourne. Top scorer Emma Pollard led the way with four goals, while Anna Langa and Laura Rudd scored two apiece. Devon Castopn and Courtney Coles also netted.
