Meet the girls football team who have won 132 of 157 matches and 11 trophies in four seasons

Peterborough-based Iqra Academy football team are the Association of Muslim Schools (AMS) National U15 Girls football champions for the fourth year in a row.

n this year’s final Iqra Academy, who are sponsored by theRAF, beat the Madani School, Leicester 2-0 at Harborough Town FC to continue an incredible run of success.

Since playing their first competitive match in September 2016, the team have now played 157 gamesand have won 11 trophies.

Their complete playing record reads: Played 157, Won 132, Drawn 8, Lost 17, Goals For 547, Against 158, Goal Didderence +389!

The 11 trophies they have won are... 2017 National Schools Shield; Midlands Schools League Title; Midlands Interfaith Schools Cup;

2018: National Schools Shield; AMS Midlands School League Title.

2019: Peterborough & District Schools Cup; Midlands School League; FA English Schools County League; AMS National Schools Shield.

2020: Midlands School League Title; National Schools Shield

Iqra Academy has also won the FA Community Award for ‘Best Inclusive Project,’ as they set up a weekly girls Football Academy for all Thomas Deacon Education Trust Schools.

The weekly sessions are run by qualified coaches from the Peterborough United Ladies FC and are aimed at encouraging girls into football and to support community integration.

Principal Michael Wright, said: “The school’s development of football and health and wellbeing has had a dramatic impact on students and the whole School. Students are more confident and have greater opportunities in sports and health initiatives, to fulfil their potential as active British Muslim women.”
