England are now through to the World Cup semi-finals for only the fourth time

There were scenes of jubilation in Peterborough’s Charters Bar last night (Saturday, July 11) as England booked their place in the World Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Norway.

The Three Lions went behind in the first half after Andreas Schjelderup’s shot went in off the post, but a Jude Bellingham brace booked England’s place in the next round.

The win tees up a scintillating semi-final clash against Argentina in Atlanta at 8pm on Wednesday (July 15).

Victory over Argentina would see England play in their first World Cup final since 1966.

Last night’s win was celebrated by hundreds of barmy fans at Charters, who will be starting to believe that football could, finally, come home.
