Former record Peterborough United signing could tackle Peterborough Sports at PIMS Park on Saturday
Former record Peterborough United signing, striker Britt Assombalonga, could play against Peterborough Sports at PIMS Park on Saturday (3pm kick off).
The 33 year-old has dropped into the National League North with Harborough Town who are in the city this weekend for a friendly.
Posh signed Assombalonga for club record £1.2 million in July 2013 and he scored 33 goals in all competitions before leaving for Nottingham Forest for £5.5 million after one season at London Road.
Assombalonga also made a £15 million move to Middlesbrough from Forest, and has spent time playing in Turkey, but last season he struggled for Barnet in League Two.
Harborough Town won promotion from the Southern League Premier Division Central last term. Sports were relegated into the same division. The city side’s scheduled friendly at Grantham Town on Tuesday was postponed because of pitch conditions.
There are league games for local United Counties and Thurlow Nunn teams.
FC Peterborough seek their first UCL Premier Division South points at Rugby Town, while Yaxley will also chase their first points at home to Coventry Sphinx (3pm kick off).
Thurlow Premier Division leaders March Town are at Brantham Athletic and Division One North newcomers Netherton United face a long trek to Ipswich to face Hadleigh United.
