County cup success for Wasps, Northern Star and Netherton

It was a great weekend for the Peterborough Junior Alliance League on the Under 14 Northants County Cup front.

Three city teams were in fourth round action and all flew into the quarter-finals with resounding victories.

Division One table-toppers Wasps won 7-2 at Great Doddington Green with Kyle Ginns and Nasir Nabi both firing doubles while Northern Star won 7-3 at Kettering Weekley Rovers with Ashton Bennett-Williams on target twice.

And completing a terrific treble, Netherton beat Kislingbury away 7-0.

Sunday was Under 13 League Cup quarter-final day and it was Division One sides Feeder, Hampton Blue, Alconbury and Yaxley who progressed to the last four.

Hampton Blue were the big winners beating Division Two boys Pinchbeck 12-0. Luke Scampion led the way on the scoresheet with four goals followed by Rio Smith (3), Harry McLaughlin (2), Jack Butler, Reece Campbell and Declan King.

Unbeaten Division One leaders Alconbury had to work much harder than expected but eventually edged through 2-1 against Holbeach Yellow thanks to second-half goals by Harvey Gargiulo and Connor O’Donovan.

Kyall Woods was the star of the show for Yaxley, hitting five of their goals in a 6-4 win against Wisbech St Mary, while Feeder beat Deeping Claret 7-3 with Cai Taylor netting a hat-trick.

In the Under 13 Hereward Cup, both Park Farm sides went through to the semi-finals.

Park Farm Red from Division Three won 7-2 at Thurlby with Riley Deadman, Joshua Hutton and Liam Nightingale all bagging a brace, while Division Four pacesetters Park Farm Black knocked out Division Three side March Rangers 7-5 thanks to goals by Daniel Sot (3), Gediminas Kozik (2), Ben Lane and Peter Duda.

Whittlesey and Werrington Red joined them in the semi-finals.

Whittlesey beat Glinton and Northborough Amber 3-2 courtesy of goals by Kaish Joseph and David Silva (2) while Werrington Red were 4-2 winners against Netherton Hawks. Their goals were scored by Edison Hoda (3) and Benjamin Mahabir.
