Bayly shoots Bourne Town out of the drop zone, Spalding United blow it late again, lots to celebrate at FC Peterborough, March Town and Yaxley
On-loan Peterborough Sports midfielder Sam Bayly scored twice to shoot Bourne Town out of the Northern Premier Midlands Division relegation zone.
Bayley scored direct from a corner on 14 minutes at Loughborough Students and added a second goal just before the break with a 25-yard low drive. The hosts replied in added time at the end of the game and fell below Bourne into the bottom four as a result. It was a second win in a row for ‘The Wakes.’

For the second weekend in succession Spalding United leaked a late goal to drop points in the Southern Premier Division Central. They looked set to win 2-1 at Halesowen Town, and return to the top of the table, when Jack Roberts converted direct from a 30-yard free kick in the 86th minute, but the home won a 94th penalty and scored it to take a point. LIam Moore had earlier headed Spalding in front from a 61st minute corner before Halesowen equalised 11 minutes from time.
Moore was then sent off in the 98th minute along with a home player after a scuffle following the successful spot kick. Spalding, who host Kettering Town on Tuesday (7.45pm), are a point behind unbeaten leaders Harborough Town who have two games in hand. ‘The Tulips’ gave debuts today to on-loan Salford City defender Tosin Olapade and goalkeeper Dan Wilks who moved over from Bedford Town.

Stamford AFC’s future looks even more precarious after a 3-0 defeat at Leiston. ‘The Daniels’ are now 11 points from safety after winning just one of their 16 league games.
FC Peterborough got back on the winning track in Division One North of the Thurlow Nunn League with a 3-0 home success over Halesworth Town. David Yisah, Junior Augusto and Derrick Dadzie scored for the team in fifth. Whittlesey Athletic are seventh, four points behind their local rivals, after a 2-0 win at Needham Market Reserves.
March Town are up to second in the Premier Division South of the United Counties after a smooth 2-0 home win over ON Chenecks. Toby Allen and Rio Henson scored the goals in a three-minute first half spell.
And a new era for Yaxley FC started with a dramatic 1-0 home win over Hinckley AFC, a team that had beaten ‘The Cuckoos’ 5-2 last weekend. Yaxley sorted some internal wranglings and appointed a new committee earlier this week and a last gasp-goal Tommy Dear gave them more to celebrate.
Peterborough Sports won their FA Trophy second round tie 2-1 at National League North rivals Oxford City. Full report to follow on www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk.
