Peterborough Sports, UCL Division One champions last season, have made another marquee signing in former Stamford centre-back Richard Jones.

Jones is recognised as one of the top defenders in local non-league football and skippered ‘The Daniels’ for many seasons.

Sports manager Jimmy Dean said: “Richard is an absolutely huge signing for us and his experience will be vital.

“He’s dropped down to us because of work commitments and there won’t be a better centre-half at our level.”

Holbeach have signed long-serving Deeping Rangers defender Spencer Tinkler as well as well-known local striker Stuart Eason, who spent last season at St Ives and Spalding.

Midfielder Sam Murphy has re-joined Wisbech Town after a four-year absence. Murphy subsequently played for Peterborough Northern Star and Spalding United.

Peterborough Premier Division side Stilton United have appointed Michael Norris as their new manager.
