Deeping match secretary quits post
Deeping St James AC are on the lookout for a new match secretary after the shock resignation of Mike Smith.
It has been an uncomfortable position for him since he took over the reins from Ray Torrington, but I’m sure the club will have the position filled by the time the new season on rivers comes around.
Smith’s last match was fished at the in-form Lake Ross out at Pinchbeck which saw Graham Page put 126lb 8oz to the scales from peg 24 for his first win of the year. He caught most of his fish up in the water on a banded pellet. Similar tactics saw Pete Molesworth Junior take the runner-up spot with 94lb and third place went to Dave Marzell with 68lb 8oz.
The Tuesday Club fished the High Bank on Gunwade Lake in their latest outing and it was Mike Smith on peg 39 with 17lb of skimmers and roach who topped the field. He caught on the long pole line with maggot over groundbait.
Runner-up was Mike Mohan with14lb caught on the pole at 11 metres on maggot and caster over groundbait again for skimmers and roach.
Third was Fred Tarne with 11lb 4oz, then came Stuart Brundle with 10lb.
