A spectacular innings from Sam Evison sped Bourne Town to an opening day win in the Lincs Premier Division at the Abbey Lawn.

Visitors Grimsby probably felt quietly satisfied with their 254 all out, but dropping opener Evison before he had scored a run proved costly.

Evison punished the error by smashing 150 from just 78 balls, an innings that included 9 sixes and 17 fours. Bourne went on to win the game by seven wickets with almost 20 overs to spare.

Canny slow bowler Mohammed Azhar (5-31) did the damage with the ball with his victims including Sleaford opener Aayush Patel who had clubbed 83 from just 58 balls.

Sam Jarvis (57) struck a debut half century for Deeping and helped Josh Smith (71) add 115 for the second wicket against reigning champions Scunthorpe at Outgang Road, but the home side lost their last nine wickets for 78 and Scunthorpe scooted to their victory target of 207 in 31 overs.
