Peterborough Town are moving menacingly towards the top of Rutland Division One.
The city side traditionally come with a late rattle at this level as they play catch-up on their fixtures,

And a vital 173-run win at title rivals City CC on Sunday has probably established them as favourites to claim a sixth top-flight title in eight years. Town are third, but just four points leaders Uppingham with a game in hand. Second-placed City CC have played three more games than Town.
Skipper Kyle Medcalf led the Town weekend victory charge at Woodlands with an unbeaten 104 which featured 10 fours and five sixes. He shared a big second wicket stand with 15 year-old Siddharth Shanmugaraj (63) as Town piled up 286-5.
Veteran Bashrat Hussain chipped in with 34 and then completed a splendid all-round day with 5-27 as City were skittled for just 113.
Newborough did look to have one hand on a first Rutland Division One title, but a points deduction for fielding an ineligible player has left them in fourth place 13 points behind Town having played a game more.
‘The Bulls’ have not given up though and they saw off Barnack by 28 runs last weekend. George Woods powered his way to 93 with Jake Carlin making 71 in a Newborough team total of 248-8 in 45 overs. Carlin also picked up three wickets as did Joe Mills as Barnack replied with 220 all out.
Leaders Pak Azad are on the brink of promotion from Division Two after beating second-placed Werrington by 28 runs in a low scoring game at Campbell Drive.
Hampton clinched the Division Three title with a six-wicket win over Benefield. Waqar Ul Haq took 4-8 as Benefield were dismissed for 133.
Adidda have been promoted alongside Hampton after a 141-run win over Laxton Park and Kimbolton have secured the Division Five title.
