Peterborough Town CC crowdfunding campaign off to a fast start

Peterborough Town CC have turned to crowdfunding to ease the financial pressures caused by the coronavirus crisis.

The cricket club crowdfunder details can be seen at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/ptcc-covid-recovery-funding.

They aim to raise £15k over a period of eight weeks and received donations of £4k within two days of the launch. There are prizes to be won by donating, including cricket kit and free coaching.

Sport England make additional donations by guaranteeing to match a percentagee of the funds raised.

Like most sports clubs PTCC suffered a financial shortfall last season as half of the season was postponed.

Members supported the club by paying a full subscription.

Town are hopeful their 2021 Northants Premier Division campaign will start as scheduled on April 24.

Town will begin against Desborough Town at Bretton Gate with neighbours Oundle Town opening with a trip to Rushden & Higham.

Town are due to visit Oundle on June 12 with the pair set to clash at Bretton Gate on September 11, the penultimate Saturday of the season.

Town will be chasing a hat-trick of sorts having won the Premier Division in 2019 before winning a shortened 2020 competition for top-flight clubs.

The city side won every competitive match they played last summer in the Northants and Rutland Leagues.
