Mr Bigham is a former treasurer of the Hunts Cricket League.

Town CC chairman Brian Howard said: “There is no doubt John leaves a genuine legacy to the game.

"He was an umpire and an administrator (treasurer, safeguarding officer) on numerous cricket leagues.

"He was a gentleman who had been ill for some time, but battled bravely, stoically and without fuss.

“John became a regular at our club and was a very strong supporter of all we do, how we do it and of our values towards our juniors.

"The world needs more John Bighams.”

Orton Park CC issued a statement which read: “Everyone at Orton Park CC send condolences to the Bigham family at this time. John was a huge part of our club and made many contributions over the years. We appreciate his service over the years and he will be sadly missed by us all.”
