Hasty Charity Cup exit for holders at hands of City CC, close calls for Barnack and Ufford, but Bourne win big

Holders Market Deeping CC made a hasty exit in the first round of the Stamford Charity T20 Cup on a chilly Monday evening (May 10).

City CC - formerly King’s Keys - posted 163-3 in their 20 overs at Outgang Road and defended it rather comfortably, restricting Deeping to 138-5 despite a half century from James Hook.

Abbas Malik struck five sixes in his unbeaten 68 for City, while Usman Sadiq made 57.

Barnack beat Ketton on losing fewer wickets after a tied game, while Ufford Park pipped Castor by four runs.

Bourne piled up 203-3 to set up a big win over Uppingham with skipper Courtney Kruger cracking 76 and import Brandon Diplock taking three wickets.

Scores: City 163-3 (A. Malik 68no, U. Sadiq 57) beat Market Deeping 135-5 (J. Hook 50, J. Malton 30) by 28 runs.

Barnack 101-5 (A. Butt 41no, S. Amir 34) beat Ketton 101-7 (J. Miller 50, by virtue of losing fewer wickets.

Bourne 203-3 (C. Kruger 76, S. Evison 43, J. Berry 42) beat Uppingham 74 (F. Arlott 3-8, B. Diplock 3-21) by 129 runs.

Ufford Park 133-7 (R. Bapodra 30, beat Castor 129-9 (R. Smith 33, H. Killingsworth 30, F. Adil 3-17) by 4 runs.
