Clarke will lead Peterborough Town CC’s hat-trick bid

David Clarke will attempt to lead Peterborough Town CC to major Northants Premier Division honours for the third season in succession in 2021.

Clarke was elected Town club captain for the sixth year in a row at the club’s annual meeting.

Town won the Premier Division title under Clarke in 2019 and won a hastily-arranged shortened competition in 2020 without losing a game.

The 2021 Northants League season is due to start on April 24 and will consist of a mix of win/lose and win/lose/draw games.

Coloured clothing and pink balls will be used in the win/lose matches.

The Premier Division will have 11 teams in 2021, but two will be relegated with one promoted from Division One to bring the top flight down to 10 teams.

The Northants T20 competition will take place on Saturdays in the middle of the season.

Town expect all of their title-winning squad to return. Batsman Nick Paskins will also be back at Bretton Gate after a year away from the club.

Town will host a Cambridgeshire Minor Counties one day game against Norfolk on Sunday, July 4.

Cambs and Hunts over 50s and over 60s games will also take place at Bretton Gate this summer.

*Hamish Meichan has replaced Nick Cowley as captain of Cambs League side Orton Park CC.

*The 2021 Hunts Indoor Cricket League has been cancelled because of Covid.
