Career best for Reece as records tumble at Castor CC and Lincs League batsmen make hay in the sunshine, plus T20 ties on Monday
Reece Smith-York cracked a career best 163 not out as Castor CC records tumbled on a glorious day at Port Lane.
Smith-York’s knock in a Lincs Division One South game against Moulton Harrox 2nds was the backbone of Castor’s highest ever team score of 372-3 in 45 overs. Smith-York was joined at the crease by another loyal Castor servant in Ryan Evans to add a club record 227 for the fifth-wicket. Evans also struck an unbeaten ton, closing on 106 (14 4s, 2 6s).

Smith-York’s innings included 21 4s and 2 6s. Jason Dunn (56) also contributed a useful score in a game Castor went on to win by a massive 246 runs. Stuart Dockerill and Sumit Salkar both took 4 wickets for Castor.
Castor are top of an incredibly tight division with just 8 points separating the leading 6 teams. Market Deeping 2nds are 2nd after a much closer game at Burghley Park 2nds, one they edged by 4 runs.
Standings: 1 Castor P5 68pts, 2 Market Deeping II P4 67pts, 3 Billingborough P4 65pts, 4 Long Sutton P4 64pts, 5 Burghley Park II P5 62pts, 6 Freiston P3 60pts, 7 Heckington P5 48pts, 8 Woodhall Spa II P6 41pts, 9 Moulton Harrox II P6 30pts.
Batsmen certainly made hay in the sunshine. Richard Morris made 106 as Division Two South leaders Orton Park 2nds made it 5 wins out of 5 with a 141-run win over Baston and in the same section Will Stevenson cracked 103 to help Ketton Sports 2nds to a high-scoring 30-run win over Spalding 2nds.
And in Division Three South Jonathan Dalley bashed 5 6s in his 106 as Uffington crushed Grantham 3rds by 173 runs.
There was no joy for the top local clubs in the Premier Division though. Jordan Temple (80) scored more than half of Bourne’s runs as they slipped to a 34-run defeat to Grimsby at the Abbey Lawn.
Burghley Park lost for the 4th time in 6 outings as hosts Woodhall Spa beat them by 6 wkts. James Laud (76) and Ryan Gilmour (55) batted well for Burghley, but from 185-2 they slumped to 218 all out.
And Spalding also suffered a 4th defeat of the summer. They went down by 98 runs at title fancies Scunthorpe whose 289-6 was dominated by overseas star Priyanshu Khanduri who smashed 175 not out from just 125 balls (27 4s 1 6). Ollie Dring hit a defiant half century in Spalding’s 191 all out.
Standings (all played 6): 1 Sleaford 106pts, 2 Scunthorpe 90pts, 3 Grantham 88pts, 4 Bracebridge Heath 85pts, 5 Grimsby 82pts, 6 Bourne 79pts, 7 Burghley Park 61pts, 8 Spalding 54pts, 9 Woodhall Spa 46pts, 10 Lindum 36pts.
