The night-loving creatures have been busy digging up the outfield at Fotheringay Road.

It’s come at a bad time for the club who are busy fund-raising to repair the roof of their clubhouse.

The recent storms have also damaged the club’s sightscreens.

Club groundsman Bill Taylor said: “Running a cricket club is hard enough financially without these setbacks!

“The club playing surface has been attacked by badgers this winter. They have dug large chunks out of three-quarters of the outfield. The repair work required will incur costs for topsoil and grass seed even if the work is all done free by volunteers.

“We are selling advertising boards to affix to boundary fencing from £200 per season so if any local company would like to help it is also good advertising for them.”
