Smith through to the ABA quarter-finals
City boxer Aiden Smith is an East Midlands champion.
The 15 year-old bantamweight from Eye, who boxes for the Kettering School of Boxing, came up against local rival Harry Bell from Stamford in the zone finals of the Junior ABA Championships in Scunthorpe at the weekend and won unanimously on points.
Smith’s coach Clive Hogben said: “It was a great scrap, competitive throughout. I take my hat off to Bell. He was outclassed but never stopped coming forward.”
Smith now progresses to the quarter-finals of the Junior ABA Championships which will be held in Grantham on Saturday March 19.
