You can get accurate information on the coronavirus situation in your area using a Government postcode checker tool.

New Covid-19 cases continue to fall around the UK, and the four nations are preparing for lockdown measures to slowly start easing over the coming months.

Weekly cases numbers in the UK are now over five times smaller than figures seen at the peak of the second wave in January, and case levels are as low as the UK saw in September 2020.

The UK’s Covid-19 alert level was lowered from five to four, after the country’s top medics said the threat of the NHS being overwhelmed has receded.

How to check Covid-19 case numbers in your postcode

To find out how many Covid-19 cases there currently are in your area, or to view data for another specific area within the UK, you can visit the Government checker website.

Not every area is available, but the checker tool will show the most local information in each category for your selected area.

Once on the website, you will find the postcode checker tool at the bottom of the page, under the section: ‘What’s the situation in your local area?’

Enter the postcode you want to search, and you will be taken to the ‘Daily update’ information for that area.

You will then be able to view how many people tested positive for coronavirus in the area, and where that ranks compared to the UK average.

You will also be able to find out how many people have been vaccinated, the number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test, and patients admitted in your area.
