These are the airlines that have cancelled flights to Spain following a change to FCO travel advice

UK holidaymakers have seen their travel plans disrupted after Spain was removed from the UK government’s list of countries exempt from quarantine restrictions.

The removal was made on Sunday (26 July) following a spike in coronavirus cases in the country over the last few days, prompting the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to advise against all but essential travel to Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands.

The news has since seen a number of airlines cancel their flights to Spain, putting thousands of holiday plans into disarray.

Which airlines have cancelled flights?

Several major airlines have issued updates for customers following the change in travel advice from the FCO.

If you were due to travel to Spain, or the Balearic and Canary Islands, here are the latest updates from airlines.

Jet2

Jet2 announced on Monday (27 July) that it is suspending all of its flights to mainland Spain up to and including 16 August.

This includes its flights and holiday programme to Costa de Almeria, Alicante, Malaga and Murcia.

Customers who have booked inbound flights from Spain to the UK up to 3 August will be able to return on their flights as planned.

However, customers with inbound flights to the UK from 4 to 16 August will be contacted to discuss their options.

TUI

TUI has cancelled all of its holidays to mainland Spain after the FCO advised against all but essential travel to the country.

Holidays to mainland Spain have been cancelled until 10 August, while flights to the Balearic and Canary Islands are cancelled until 4 August. This includes flights to the islands of Ibiza, Majorca, Lanzarote and Tenerife.

The tour operator will instead be increasing its flights to Greece and Turkey this weekend to allow customers who have been affected by the cancellations to change their destinations.

EasyJet

EasyJet has confirmed it will continue to fly to Spain despite the change in government advice, but said it will continue to monitor the situation “with a view to align the flight schedule to demand”.

However, all package holidays to mainland Spain, the Canary Islands, and the Balearic Islands, have been cancelled until 31 July.

Ryanair

Ryanair is continuing to operate its flights in and out of Spain as normal, confirming its travel schedules remain in place.

British Airways

The airline is continuing to operate all flights as normal following the government announcement.

British Airways warned the change in advice would further impact an already troubled aviation industry.
