A classic film channel is relaunching in January - here’s how to watch it

Film fans can look forward to 2021, as Sony Movies Classic has announced it is relaunching in January.

The classic film TV channel will make its return on 5 January 2021, bringing with a variety of entertainment that is both new and old.

Sony Movies Classic is dedicated to showcasing the best-loved cinema classics, which will be available to watch on TV screens all day, every day.

Celebrating quality cinema from the 1940s through to the 2000s, Sony will air iconic films that span from the Golden Age of Hollywood to British new wave and modern masterpieces, as well as landmark movies from every decade.

Viewers will have access to an extensive library of titles, with some of the timeless classics including Psycho, The Graduate, In The Heat of the Night, and Our Man in Havana.

Small screen highlights

The launch in January will see the channel air a range of films from 6am, with movie legends Marilyn Monroe, Barbara Streisand, Bob Hope and Faye Dunaway staring in screenings of The Great Lover, Ladies of the Chorus, Funny Girl, and Eyes of Laura Mars, among many other favourites.

An extensive range of cult gems will also be screened on the channel in the new year, including content that caters for a variety of tastes, from drama and mysteries, to thrilling adventure stories.

Horror fans can enjoy classics like Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and Radley Metzger’s The Cat and the Canary, while romantic comedy lovers will be treated to the likes of The Graduate and The Facts of Life.

Sony Movies Classic will also be bringing the best Hollywood stars from across the century to the small screen, with appearances from Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in The Taming of the Shrew, Gene WIlder and Richard Pryor in Stir Crazy, and Golden Globe winning Shirley MacLain in musical comedy-drama, Sweet Charity.

Sony Movies Classic will be available to watch from 5 January 2021 on Freeview 51, Freesat 303, Sky 319 and Virgin 424.
